I'm grateful for my opportunities in life, and I like to be involved in social justice work.
Yet the world of my peers is often so self-referenced - I feel like we're better at talking to ourselves than other people - who might join us if they weren't so put off by how we talk and act.
I like to shift our way of communicating back to how 'regular people' do it. People who are surprised, for example, that the vast majority of domestic violence is perpetrated by men (they suspect we're biased- they don't think that they might be-why would they even think that?)
How do we respond? quite often in words and ways that leave them cold - sitting on the bench while our bus drives off without them on board.
We can do so much better than that!
